Bachelor of Science in Criminology

The field of criminology is a study of crime and the various agencies of justice as they operate and react to crime, criminals and victims. It is therefore the mission of the CRIMINOLOGY PROGRAM to provide the community with professionally competent and morally upright graduates who can deliver efficient and effective services in crime prevention, crime detection and investigation, law enforcement, and custody and rehabilitation of offenders among others.

Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) offering the Criminology program are envisioned as significant educational institutions actively and continually involved in producing graduates who have the knowledge and skills in addressing the problem of criminality in the country and the competence to meet the challenge of globalization in the field of criminology.

 

The following are the Employment Opportunities for Criminologists as per RA 6506.

  1. As a commission or non-commission officer in the Tri-bureau of the Department of Interior and Local Government.
  2. As a professor, instructor or teacher in Criminology in any university, college or school duly recognized by the government and teaches any of the following subjects: (a) Law Enforcement Administration, (b) Criminalistics, (c) Correctional Administration, (d) Criminal Sociology and allied subjects, and (e) other technical and specialized subjects in the Criminology curriculum provided by the Department of Education.
  3. As law enforcement administrator, executive, adviser, consultant or agent in any government or private agency.
  4. As technician in dactyloscopy, ballistics, questioned documents, police photography, lie detection, forensic chemistry and other scientific aspects of crime detection.
  5. As correctional administrator, executive supervisor, worker or officer in any correctional and penal institution.
  6. As counselor, expert, adviser, researcher in any government or private agency on any aspects of criminal research or project involving the causes of crime, juvenile delinquency, treatment of offenders, police operations, law enforcement administration, scientific criminal investigation or public welfare administration.

We have existing MOA with the following Agencies for purposes of Instruction and On the Job Training (OJT).

  4. Mountain Clark Firing Range

Other Programs
